Yes. URLs using the /shorts/VIDEO_ID format are supported.

Do I need a YouTube API key?

No API key is required for the thumbnail lookup used by this implementation.

Why is Max Resolution missing?

Not every video has every thumbnail resource available. The tool checks the resource and provides fallbacks.

Does the site store downloaded images?

The download endpoint streams the validated image and does not intentionally save it as a permanent server file.
